I'm looking for submissions from people who care about making a positive impact on Alabama. Your post may be about anything relating to reproductive care in the state, whether that be news, a personal story, a regional nonprofit or organization highlight, research, or just a general topic piece. See below for resources and more details about submission!

Submission Guidelines

Length:

Between 500 and 1000 words.

Format:

Please submit via the submission link below. Use the existing blogs as a guideline for your own submission.

Blog posts should be proof-read before submission for grammar and sentence structure, but don't be afraid if you aren't sure of something! I will make light edits or provide comments for re-submission if necessary.

Make sure to cite your sources by placing a number in parentheses () and then listing the source at the bottom of your entry, like this:

Keep your draft in another document while you are writing it in case there is an issue with your submission.

Topics Allowed:

Anything related to reproductive care in Alabama.

The topic may affect more communities than just in Alabama, but the focus must be on the state as a whole or people in an Alabama community.

Topic ideas:

  • Discuss maternal/infant mortality in your county, and research ways that people in your community are working to decrease these numbers.

  • Interview a community member about their birthing experience, making sure to highlight areas of excellence and areas to improve.

  • Highlight a nonprofit who's doing great work in reproductive justice or advocacy, or a clinic that's doing a great job providing care!

  • Write about any research you or someone you know is doing in the reproductive healthcare sphere.

  • Examine access to care for marginalized populations, including but not limited to the LGBTQ+ community, racial/ethnic minority groups, or lower-income groups.

  • ...Or anything else related to women's health!
